Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can we pre-register for Bay Jammer? And If so how?

A: Yes you can, in fact it is highly recommended that your unit pre-registers for both your and our benefit, you save money by pre-registering and we get a more accurate picture on how to plan Bay Jammer based on attendance.

Q: Does our unit have to participate in every event?

A: No your unit does not have to participate in every event.  However we strongly recommend you participate in as many events as possible to make your weekend fun packed.  As well as the more events participated in then the better standings you have for overall awards at the end of the weekend.

Q: Our unit doesn’t have enough youth to participate, can we still come?

A: Yes you can come in fact we encourage it!  If there are units that need more participants arrangements can be made to combine smaller or other units into one competition unit.  Not only do you get to compete in the fun at Bay Jammer, but you can create close friendships that can last a lifetime.

Q: Can I smoke if I have to at Bay Jammer?

A: No you cannot smoke at Bay Jammer.  As with all other Boy Scout and Girl Scout events/camps there is a strict no smoking/ tobacco policy.  However if adults must smoke it is mandatory that it is done so off site and totally away from unit members.

Q: If our unit is camping or is staying at a church or school with no shower facilities, is there a way we can take showers?

A: In the Scout oath it states that “a scout is clean” and to be honest we like to encourage it! There are posted locations and times for open showers at the location listed in your packet for Bay Jammer so yes you will have the opportunity to take a shower during Bay Jammer.  After all you don’t want to be the person no one wants to sit by when the weekend is over.  We like to say: “A clean scout is a happy scout!”

Q: With gas prices so high our unit can’t afford to stay in a motel / hotel, Is there a way to avoid that extra cost?

A: Yes there is other opportunities given to our units for lodging.  Camping is one way of going about saving some money.  But we also have limited amount of local schools and churches that have allow you to stay for a small fee that we give to the location you stay in.
